In 2019, the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) made a momentous decision. The IAF General Assembly selected Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, as the host city for the 74th IAC in 2022. Azercosmos, the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was entrusted with the responsibility of hosting this prestigious event. However, as the world grappled with the unforeseen challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, plans had to be reconsidered. In an extraordinary session of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Bureau held on June 3, 2020, chaired by IAF President Pascale Ehrenfreund, it was decided to reschedule the IAC to 2023. And so, Baku will now welcome the global space community on October 2-6, 2023, for the 74th International Astronautical Congress.
